Ranking Factors That Effect SEO: Part 11

In part 10 we learned about the Authority of linking pages and domains, Links from competitors, expected websites, links from a bad neighborhood, guest posts, links from ads, home page authority, No-Follow links, and Diversity of Link Types.

101. “Sponsored” or “UGC” Tags

These tags are really helpful for affiliate websites and forums for denoting the backlinks as “rel=sponsored” or “rel=UGC”. Just like “followed” or rel=nofollow links these tags are different with respect to the outbound domains.

This is what Google has to say about this:

102. Contextual Links

Contextual Links are beneficial and safe when building backlinks and internal links to a page. These links are embedded in the content wherever it is necessary rather than below a page’s content.

103. Excessive 301 Redirects to Page

There is a limit of permanent 301 redirects to a page. Google might decide not to follow the multiple permanent redirects that happen very frequently. If you are at all doing from one website to another then do it at once permanently.

Backlinks coming from a redirected website can dilute some of the PageRank factors.

This is what Google has to say about this topic:

104. Internal Link Anchor Text

Internal Links play an important role in ranking web pages with Topical Authority. The anchor text on internal links helps Google assess what the linked page is about. The internal link anchor text may be exact march, partial match, or contextual in nature.

105. Link Title Attribution

Link Title Attribution refers to the text you will see whenever you hover over internal and external links. These act as a quality signal and improve the user experience for the readers.

106. Country TLD of Referring Domain

This is a minor ranking factor but getting backlinks from country-specific domains or country-specific TLDs (.in, .ae, .au, .br, .de, .cn, .co.uk, etc.) helps your site rank better in those countries.

107. Link Location In Content

Link Location in Content can play an important role whilst creating backlinks. Backlinks at the beginning of content on a page carry slightly more relevance than the ones placed at the end.

108. Link Location on Page

Link location on a page carries weight and must be considered while placing internal links especially. It’s always better to have links embedded within the content on a page rather than the footer and sidebar.

109. Linking Domain Relevancy

Backlinks from relevant domains move the needle. Make sure that you are creating backlinks on a site that is relevant to your niche. Relevant backlinks are 10 times more powerful than the general ones.

110. Page-Level Relevancy

Not only links from relevant websites but links from relevant pages on a website also help rankings. Make sure that the page is getting traffic and could pass link juice to your content.
